12 weeks of repairs now expected after pick up truck overturns on rail crossing in Alsager

A road in Alsager could remain closed for three months for repair work, after a pick up truck overturned on a level crossing.

Emergency services were called to the incident at the junction of Sandbach Road South, Audley Road and Talke Road around 10:45pm last night (29 June), including fire crews from Alsager and Crewe.

They used equipment to remove the vehicle from the train line.

One casualty was assessed by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.

Cheshire East Council Highways said this morning that the road has been closed as the damage to the level crossing made it unsafe to pass.

But they have since said that following further assessment, repair works are estimated to take 12 weeks.

Audley Road is set to remain closed for this duration.

They say they are working alongside Network Rail to create an onsite diversion.
