Around 50 passengers were evacuated after a train caught fire in Cheshire.

Four fire engines - two from Crewe, one from Nantwich and one from Audlem were called to reports of a fire coming from the back of a travelling train in Willaston.

The line was stopped temporarily on both lines by Network Rail and passengers were evacuated as a safety precaution.

A cordon was put in place before crews used a hose reel jet and a covering jet to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters then checked for hot spots and used a thermal imaging camera before handing the incident to Network Rail.

The fire involved engine components and air filters.
