Driver uses milk to put out car fire

A quick-thinking motorist has used milk to put out a car fire in Sandbach.

Firefighters were called out to reports of a car on fire in Arclid.

They arrived to find that the blaze, which had been in the engine compartment, had been put out by the driver using milk.

Crews remained to damp down the engine and ensure it was cool enough to not reignite.

No further hotspots were identified, and they left after around 20 minutes.
