Family pay further tribute to midwife

The family of murdered Stoke-on-Trent midwife Samantha Eastwood have today issued a further tribute to her.

They have also thanked everyone for their support at this difficult time.

Her family said: “From the age of twelve all Samantha wanted to be was a midwife. She had to work very hard to achieve her goal.

“Samantha may no longer be here but her memory and legacy will live on.

“Thank you to everyone for their kind thoughts for our family.”

The 28-year-old's body was found in a rural area of Caverswall on Saturday, eight days after she failed to turn up for a shift at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

A 32-year-old man charged with her murder appeared in court on Wednesday, and is due back in court in October to enter a plea.

Today, people are being encouraged to light a candle, in Samantha's memory.

A Facebook page has been set up, saying that the midwifery community - and NHS family - across the country have felt that loss.
