Masked men have smashed up a Cheshire pub.

Police say they were called to the Royal Oak in Sandbach Road, Rode Heath at 12.13am this morning (12 September) following reports of criminal damage

They say a number of men wearing balaclavas, reportedly armed with baseball bats, had attempted to break into the pub.

But after failing to gain entry, they then damaged a number of windows and a vehicle.

The pub is closed while police investigations take place, and the damage is repaired.
