Park in Crewe closed because of too many visitors

Queens Park in in Crewe has been closed.

Cheshire East Council says it has taken the measure to shut it due to the large numbers of visitors that have been gathering daily - despite the government restrictions.

The authority had already closed all the play areas, outdoor gyms and skate parks it owns.

A statement from the council warns social distancing guidelines must be followed: "Where we are unable to guarantee the safety of visitors, due to people not observing the strict social distancing requirements and play area equipment closures, we will have no other option but to report to the police, and ultimately close entire park sites."
