Road cordoned off during raid by armed police

Armed officers have arrested a man in Newcastle.

Camillus Road in Knutton was cordoned off while a search of a property was carried out after a warrant was executed at 6am this morning.

The action was part of Operation Disrupt, which is aiming to tackle the high threat and harm issues affecting people living in the county.

A 38-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm. He is now in custody awaiting questioning.
