Five schools in Stoke-on-Trent are aiming to raise thousands of pounds for two charities in the city later.
The City Learning Trust have launched their first fundraising event, '5 Alive.'
It is taking place today across five sites, Haywood Academy, Trentham Academy, Mill Hill Primary Academy, Smallthorne Primary Academy and City College.
The aim is to complete a variety of sponsored sporting activities throughout the day at each site, and hope to cycle, run, walk, jump and bounce their way to raising as much money as they can.
The money will be split between two local charities: the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and the Donna Louise Children's Hospice.
More than 2,200 children and young people aged 3 and 19, and 300 members of staff will take part in the event, each one supporting their academy, the City Learning Trust and the local community through both participation and through sponsorship money raised.
Fundraising activities leading up to and on the day itself include a non-uniform day, cake and sweet sales, a silent auction, T shirt sales and a coffee morning to boost the total.
