Stafford man dies after being hit by falling tree

A 58-year-old Stafford man has died this morning after being hit by a falling tree on the Isabel Trail.

Police say they received a report at 6.45am today (3 October) from colleagues in the ambulance service of a man in cardiac arrest on a footpath (the Isabel Trail) off the Eccleshall Road, and near to the cemetery.

Firefighters from Stafford used a Milwaukee saw to cut away the tree to allow colleagues from the ambulance service to gain access to him.

Sadly, despite their best efforts, paramedics were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The family of the victim have been informed.

Police say that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.
