Third person dies from Coronavirus at Royal Stoke

A third person has died from Coronavirus at the Royal Stoke hospital.

John Oxtoby, Medical Director at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

"The patient, 89, had underlying health conditions and died on Friday 20 March.

"His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

A man aged 51, also died last Friday

Bosses also revealed, a man aged 73, passed away at the Royal Stoke the day before Thursday 19 March.
