Emergency services, including four fire engines from Crewe, Sandbach and Middlewich, were called to the northbound carriageway between junctions 17 and 18 around 3:40pm yesterday afternoon (4 March).

Lanes one and two of the motorway were closed while crews extricated two women from inside the vehicle.

One other woman was able to get out of the vehicle without assistance from fire crews.

Two dogs were also cared for at the scene by firefighters.

Crews spent around 50 minutes at the scene.
