Woman hit by train

A woman has been hit by a train in Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services were called to an incident on the line between Stoke and Longton, near City Road in Fenton, around 9:50 this morning (16 September).

West Midlands Ambulance Service say they had deployed an ambulance, a paramedic officer, a BASICS doctor and the critical care team from the air ambulance to the scene.

They have confirmed a woman was found with serious injuries.

She has been taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Rail services are currently being being diverted, and some are being affected by delays of more than an hour.
