Nathan Smith has signed a new deal with Port Vale.

The 24-year-old centre half was out of contract this summer, with fans fearing he could leave the club on a free transfer.

When Vale announced its retained list in May, it was confirmed he had been offered new terms.

Now the local lad, who came through the Vale Academy, has put pen to paper on a two year contract extension.

The deal keeps him at Vale Park until 2022.

Despite his young age he has represented the Valiants nearly 200 times.
