Stoke City have asked the Irish FA for permission to speak to Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill.

The Potters are searching for their fifth manager in nearly two years, after parting company with Nathan Jones last week.

The club are currently bottom of the Championship table.

O'Neill took Northern Ireland from 129th in the world rankings to a highest ever 20th.

He also led the country to Euro 2016, their first major tournament in 30 years.
