Stoke City were thrashed 5-0 this evening at Premier League bound Leeds United.
Manager Michael O’Neill made one change from the side that beat Barnsley last weekend with Nathan Collins replacing James Chester in the heart of the defence.
The home side took the lead in first half stoppage time from the penalty spot.
Tommy Smith brought down Helder Costa and Mateusz Klich made no mistake sending Jack Butland the wrong way.
The home side doubled their lead within two minutes of the restart through Costa.
Liam Cooper added a third just before the hour. Pablo Hernandez made it four on 72 minutes before Patrick Bamford smashed home a fifth in the 90th minute.
Victory sent Leeds top of the table meaning they need just seven points from their remaining four games to clinch promotion to the top flight.
Stoke dropped a place on goal difference and are now 21st in the table, a point above the relegation zone.
Michael O’Neill said: “The opposition were far superior in every position, we just couldn’t match them and we were second best in every area.”
The Potters are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they entertain Birmingham City.
Kick off at the bet365 stadium is at 1.30pm.
