Vale boss disappointed after defeat at Macc

Port Vale hopes of consolidating a top ten place suffered a blow.

They were beaten 2-1 at Cheshire rivals Macclesfield.

Manager John Askey made two changes bringing back James Gibbons after a one match ban and Richie Bennett.

David Amoo and Scott Burgess dropped to the bench.

The Vale got off to a flying start with Richie Bennett opening the scoring after just 12 minutes.

The home side equalised six minutes before the break through Arthur Gnahoua.

Macc then took the lead through Emmanuel Osadebe midway through the second half.

The result leaves the Vale still searching for their first away win of the season.

John Askey's side are 13th in the table.

The Valiants are back in action on Saturday when they entertain Stevenage.
